We're delighted to have Tina Bengs, an attorney with Ogletree Deakins,  speak at our February Program.

Ms. Bengs is a shareholder with the labor and employment law firm Ogletree Deakins, which has over 850 attorneys throughout 54 offices in the United States and several other countries. Ms. Bengs is in the Firm’s Valparaiso office, a satellite of the Chicago and Indianapolis offices. Ms. Bengs counsels business clients on various employment and labor issues relating to the ADA, ADEA, FMLA, worker’s compensation, Title VII, FLSA, unemployment, termination and discipline, employment policies and handbooks, and other Indiana and Federal employment laws.  She strives to assist her clients in determining best practices that conform with the law and with the business’ directives.  She also represents clients in employment litigation matters at the local, State, and Federal agency level and in State and Federal court.  Finally, she represents clients in ERISA and bad faith litigation matters including the litigation of pension, life, health, disability, and employee benefits issues.  Ms. Bengs speaks on a variety of employment and benefits topics for several business associations and also conducts internal training for clients.

  1. Discuss best practices to follow prior to terminating an employee to avoid potential liability.
  2. Understand when a leave or other accommodation is required, how and when the requirement ends, and the effect on an employee’s benefits.
  3. Review documentation that can best establish a defense to an unemployment claim.
